Short Bio:
Mary Joyce ( Joy ) Gibat

Born near Springfield, Ohio in the late 30s, I received my first formal training when I was ten. I received a BA in Art/Art History after studying art in Ohio, Mississippi and Tennessee. Moving to Norman, OK in the 60s, I did some graduate work at the University of Oklahoma.
Divorced, with four daughters, I began in the 70's, welding and working with various metals, trying to produce unique and interesting sculptures in 3D and low relief.

My work is in collections thoughout the world. I have won some prizes although awards have never held much interest for me.

The act of creating and making a piece is what brings me pleasure. I hope you enjoy my work half as much as I have in making it.
