About
Joy
Gibat
Born near Springfield,
Ohio in the late 30s, I received my first formal training
when I was ten. I received a BA in Art/Art History after
studying art in Ohio, Mississippi and Tennessee. Moving to
Norman, OK in the 60s, I did some graduate work at the
University of Oklahoma.
Divorced, with four daughters, I began in the 70's, welding
and working with various metals, trying to produce unique
and interesting sculptures in 3D and low relief.
My work is in collections
though out the world. I have won some prizes although
awards have never held much interest for me.
The act of
creating and making a piece is what brings me pleasure. I
hope you enjoy my work half as much as I have in making
it.
